SALVIA TESQUICOLA: Although most perennial Salvia's don't survive here, this species has proven very hardy in the plots. Masses of fragrant deep purple to blue flower spikes adorn the 60 cm tall plants. Requiring full sun and average to rich organic soil, they are a great addition to the perennial garden. A good choice for cut flower bouquets. Seeds should be started in cell trays in late April or early May and transplanted out. Cover the seeds with 1 cm of soil and keep the temperature near 20 degrees Celsius for best germination success. Plant clumps should be divided every 3-4 years. 40 seeds. P639
