PHYTEUMA HUMILE:   Commonly called Horned Rampion, this unique species is native to the Alps. Deep blue to almost purple dense globes of flowers appear on wiry stems above the compact little plants. Height to 20 cm tall.  Flowers may appear as early as late June and continue on until September. Ideal for the rock garden, this species likes full to partial sun and well drained soils. Seeds should be started in cell trays in mid April onwards - cover them with just a light dusting of soil and keep evenly warm and moist. Germination is slow and so is the initial plant development.  60 seeds.    P615
