PERSIAN CORNFLOWER: One of many perennial Centaurea species that we grow, this one has yet to be properly identified.  It grows to 80 cm tall and produces many large soft purple flowers with pale centres.  Full sun and average soils suit it best.  Seeds can be sown direct in late fall, early spring or started in containers in April and transplanted out.  Usually blooms the first season.  Cover the seeds with 1 cm of soil and keep moist.  Makes a good cut flower specimen.  40 seeds.    P 466
