MEADOWSWEET: Also known as Queen-of-the-Meadow, this plant resembles spireas and astilbes. Tolerant of a wide range of conditions, they actually prefer semi-shade, even moisture and rich organic soil. I grow them out in full sun in average soil and they also do well. Growing to 100 cm or more, the mass of tiny white flowers is almond scented and useful as a cut flower. The foliage is dark green, deeply cut and very attractive on its own - it also produces a greenish-yellow dye. Start seeds in cell trays in April/May and transplant out. Cover the seeds with .5 cm of soil.  Plants contain salicylic acid - chemically similar to ASA.   60 seeds.    P528
