GRECIAN FOXGLOVE: Grown mainly as the source of the cardiac drug digoxin, this biennial or short lived perennial is a beautiful addition to the flower bed. White flowers with brown veins and spots appear on 1 m tall spikes in late summer. Although not rated hardy for the Edmonton area, I have grown this species for years and never have any winter kill. Full sun and rather dry, organic rich soils seem to suit it best. I have only started seeds in trays in the greenhouse then transplanted - direct seeding in spring will probably work just fine. Cover the seeds with just a fine dusting of soil - to .5 cm thick. 50 seeds. P505
