CHINESE DELPHINIUM: Also called Chinese Larkspur, this delphinium makes quite a show in July and August. Deep blue flowers appear on 90 cm or more tall plants that are bushy in appearance. They do not need staking. The leaves are deeply lobed and lacy. They are heavy feeders and should be given bone meal every spring. A little lime doesn't hurt either. Full sun is best for these plants in well-drained soils. Start indoors in late March or direct seed in late April. The seeds should be moist stratified for 4 weeks or more to aid in germination. Mix seeds with moist sand and/or peat and store in the fridge. Germinates best at 15 degrees Celsius. 40 seeds. P490
