CENTAUREA BRACTEATA: This miniature species came to me from the Devonian Gardens and is a real treasure. The 30 cm tall bushy plants are covered with soft purple flowers all summer long. The flower buds are metallic gold and so are the seed pods after flowering. They probably would dry very well to be used for winter crafts. Seeds can be sown in late fall, early spring or started indoors to be transplanted later. Full sun and average to dry soils is best for this species. Cover the seeds with .5 cm of soil. Great edging plant for the border garden or as individual specimens in the rock garden.   80 seeds.    P464
