AWNED WHEATGRASS:   Similar in appearance and habit to  Slender Wheatgrass, except the seed heads have awns or beards. A tufted perennial, it survives well in dry, poor soils that are well drained. To 100 cm tall. Seeds can be sown in late fall or early spring at a depth of 1 cm. Group 5-15 seeds to form a good sized clump, or scatter the seeds over the area to be sown and rake well. Plants turn a reddish-tinge as they mature in summer and stay a golden colour throughout fall and into winter.   100 seeds.    NG 941.
