PURPLE MELIC GRASS: This highly ornamental grass grows extremely well in our plots. Reaching heights of 100 cm or more - large showy purple to brown flower panicles appear in June and July. Leaves are bluish/green and broader than those of Silky Spike Melic. A loosely tufted or clumping grass it does best in average to rich soils, full sun and plenty of moisture. Very winter hardy. Best to start in cell trays or containers in April/May and then transplant the seedlings out - very fast growing and will usually produce small flower heads the first summer.   100 seeds.   G1240
