SCENTED EVENING STOCKS: These fine border plants grow to 70 cm high with spikes of small, four-petal lilac-coloured flowers that open only in the evening and emit a wonderful fragrance. They are best planted with other showier flowers. Best sown outside as soon as the soil can be worked. Can be started indoors in April for earlier blooms. Do not cover the seeds as they need light to germinate. Thin to 20 cm apart. They prefer fairly rich soil and do best in cool temperatures with full to partial sun. They need lots of water.
