CUPHEA: One of my favorite annuals, it is also called Clamy Cuphea in reference to the sticky nature of the stems and leaves. Wasps, flies and even bumblebees get permanently stuck to the plant and can't escape. Rich deep purple flowers resembling small orchids crown the 70-100 cm plants. Full sun to partial shade in the morning and average soil with lots of organic matter suit it best. I start ours in cell trays in April and transplant in late May. Cover the seeds with .5 cm of soil and keep moist. We grow two other species of Cuphea but neither is as spectacular and unusual as this one.   60 seeds.    A086.    Sorry no seeds available for 2005/2006.
