CALIFORNIA POPPY:   The State Flower of California, this plant produces satiny cup-like flowers of gold, orange and sometimes pale yellow. The foliage is finely cut and silvery-green in colour. Plants grow about 30 cm high and have a tendency to spread out. Sow the seeds direct in mid to late May. Thin plants to 18 cm apart. Prefers full sun in sandier soils.
